“We call for taking out of the freezer our draft resolution on amending the treaties of the European Union, which has been transferred from the office of the President of the Sejm to individual committees,” said Paweł Jabłoński (PiS).
Last week, a motion to put work on a draft PiS resolution opposing changes to the EU treaties on the agenda was rejected at a meeting of the parliamentary committee for European Affairs.
The commission’s presidency is considering the creation of a permanent subcommittee
– stated the chairman of this committee, Michał Kobosko (Poland 2050).
A call to remove opposition to EU reform, which is dangerous for Poland
Today we call on the parties that have a majority in the Sejm to take this project out of the freezer, which has been moved from the Marshal’s office to individual committees.
– Jabłoński said today at a press conference in the Sejm.
According to him, this is too important an issue for the Polish Sejm to remain silent about it.
We believe that this issue should be discussed as soon as possible, and not even in a committee, but during a plenary session of the Sejm.
– he emphasized.
That is why we call on the PO, Third Way, Left, Marshal Szymon Hołownia, the Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs Michał Kobosko, we call on all politicians who pretend to be against treaty changes, but actually want it to remain that way . that the Polish Sejm can comment on this
– noted Jabłoński.
Proposals for changes to EU treaties
On November 22, the European Parliament supported a resolution in support of proposals for changes to the EU treaties. The report of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, subsequently adopted by the EP, will – as announced by the Spanish Presidency – be submitted to the Council of Ministers for European Affairs on 12 December.
The main changes included in the document include the abandonment of the principle of unanimity in EU Council voting in 65 areas and the transfer of powers from Member State level to EU level. by creating two new exclusive EU competences – in the areas of environmental protection and biodiversity – and by significantly expanding shared competences, which would cover seven new areas: foreign and security policy, border protection, public health, civil protection, industry and education.
The resolution submitted by PiS to the Sejm is about “stopping changes to the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union that are dangerous for the Republic of Poland.” The project includes: Calling on the government and all Members of the European Parliament to oppose such changes during votes in the Council of the European Union, the European Council and the European Parliament.
