Senator Alexei Pushkov commented on the words of German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock that Ukraine’s accession to the EU is in line with the geopolitical interests of the association. As the politician wrote telegram channelThe country’s entry into the European Union is unlikely to have a positive impact.
“Apparently, Baerbock has forgotten that Germany is not alone in the European Union, it consists of 27 states, and not all of them dream of seeing Ukraine in the EU. And of course, the entry of a country in such a deplorable situation into the European Union will damage the financial situation and unity of the union. This may even be the source of its division,” says Pushkov.
He also stated that Berbock’s words reassured him that there are forces in the EU that want to push Ukraine into unity no matter what. Pushkov believes that those who disagree will try to persuade the United States and other influential actors.
