If the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, one of those who could order the wiretapping, wants to join the investigative committee regarding Pegasus, that would be a bad situation for me – said the head of the left club. , Krzysztof Gawkowski, on RMF FM on Saturday. “I would personally be against it,” he added.
Investigative committees – what “bread” will come from these “games”?
Krzysztof Gawkowski was asked about the creation of three investigative committees in the Sejm, announced by KO leader Donald Tusk, “whether these are not games and what political bread they will earn.”
It will be the bread and butter of answers to questions unknown today. For example, I’m looking at things related to what happened during the wiretapping scandal. I deeply believe that we don’t know much: why orders were issued, who tapped who, how Pegasus was used, who was tapped for three days, for example. I want to see it all. And I think that Law and Justice have also used the secret services to have operational knowledge about their opponents
– said the left-wing politician.
It seems to me that this should be emphasized to show it to society and say that it was a pathology for which someone should be punished.
– added.
“To me it would be a morbid, pathological situation.”
When asked who on the left would be part of these committees, Gawkowski pointed out that “the concept is starting to take shape.” As he added, Tomasz Trela will certainly be one of the parliamentarians.
Asked whether left-wing politicians would support a PiS candidate who wanted to join the committee, the MP said: “I can’t imagine it.”
If Minister Kamiński, one of those who could have ordered these wiretaps, wants to join the investigative committee in the Pegasus case, that would be a sick, pathological situation for me. If someone responsible for wiretapping someone were to join the committee to investigate, I would personally be against it.
– he emphasized.
Gawkowski was also asked whether Sejm chairman Szymon Hołownia is “an asset or an obstacle for some politicians of the united opposition.”
The Marshal, who knows how to manage the chamber, has a language that gives the feeling that finally – the current opposition and for the time being the parliamentary majority – can win the vote, and at the same time he does not scold anyone and he respects the rules, I love really enjoys his role
– he emphasized.
“This is what we have been fighting for from the beginning.”
When asked whether Szymon Hołownia could be a common opposition candidate in the next presidential elections, the politician emphasized that he did not think there would be a common opposition candidate in the presidential elections.
I think that the left, and probably every other political party, will certainly put forward its candidate for president
– he explained.
When asked about the outcome of the coalition negotiations for the left, Gawkowski announced that “the left will have three constitutional ministers.”
This is certainly news, this is already a closed case
– he pointed out.
I am happy about this because we have been fighting for three Constitutional Ministers from the beginning
– added.
When asked about his personal details, he emphasized that “it is Prime Minister Donald Tusk who announces his ministers.”
Draft resolutions concerning committees of inquiry
Three draft resolutions concerning investigative committees have been submitted to the Sejm. The first draft resolution submitted by the KO club concerns “the appointment of a commission of inquiry to investigate the legality, regularity and purposefulness of actions, as well as the prevention of abuses, negligence and omissions in the legalization of the stay of foreigners in the territory of the Republic of Poland in the period from January 1, 2019 to November 20, 2023
Another project concerns the committee of inquiry into the so-called envelope elections; the commission would investigate the legality, correctness and purposefulness of the actions taken in preparation and implementation of the 2020 elections for the President of the Republic of Poland in the form of postal voting. The draft resolution states that the committee will in particular investigate the actions of the then members of the Council of Ministers, including Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin and persons subordinate to them. It will also be examined how instructions from government members have been implemented in this regard, in particular by the Polish Post and the Polish Security Printing House.
A draft resolution was also tabled on the appointment of an “Inquiry Commission to investigate the legality, regularity and purposefulness of operational and reconnaissance activities undertaken, among others: with the use of Pegasus software by members of the Council of Ministers, secret services, police, tax audit and customs and budgetary control authorities in the period from November 16, 2015 to November 20, 2023.”
Has Gawkowski already announced that in the case of investigative committees the new majority will act in a similar manner as in the election of the Sejm presidency? Just ‘defenders of democracy’.
