Most of the 300 Palestinian prisoners that Israel deemed fit to be released within the scope of its agreement with the radical Palestinian movement Hamas are young people under the age of 18. This was reported by Israeli times.
It was noted that most of the 287 young people on Israel’s release list were convicted of rioting and stone-throwing in the West Bank or East Jerusalem.
The remaining 13 inmates are adult women, most of whom were convicted of attempted stabbing.
On November 22, the Israeli government approved an agreement with Hamas to release hostages held in the Gaza Strip. According to the agreement, a four-day ceasefire will be declared during which Hamas will release 50 women and children in exchange for 150 Palestinian prisoners. Red Cross representatives will also be allowed to visit the remaining hostages to provide necessary medical care.
How reported US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that American citizens will be among the 50 hostages released.
