It would be good to know what you are commenting on. Otherwise, hidden feelings and intentions may come to light too quickly. Donald Tusk fell into this trap, who was so irritated by the cover of the weekly magazine “Sieci”, announcing an interview with President Andrzej Duda, that he stumbled over his own stubbornness.
Tusk’s impulsive response
“Tusk will not be my prime minister,” President Duda said. I confirm. I will not
The title of the interview clearly bothered him. So strong that he commented on it without knowing the content. Politicians from the Civic Coalition followed him faithfully. How symptomatic and unfortunately known. All actions so far – especially visible in the last campaign – have been impulsive and flat. No details, no details, no substantive references. But selective! Because when it came to commenting on a film by Agnieszka Holland that scandalously insulted the Polish border guard, the opposition used the cover of its lack of knowledge of it. They claimed they couldn’t comment on segments without seeing the whole, even though the scenes they were given were clearly scandalous and manipulative.
What did the president say?
Interview with President Andrzej Duda tomorrow in the weekly magazine “Sieci”. Our subscribers can read it today. If Donald Tusk had been patient, he might have handled it with more restraint and not revealed his true intentions as much. He tried to hide them for a while, especially when he went to the palace to convince the president to entrust him with the mission of forming the government.
The representatives of the Civic Coalition, the Left and the Third Way have not convinced me that it is worth giving up the good parliamentary tradition, according to which the victorious group is the first to be given the mission to form a government forms. Under the current Constitution, all presidents, including my predecessors, Presidents Kwaśniewski, Kaczyński and Komorowski, have always entrusted the mission of forming a government to the winning party. This year’s elections were won by Law and Justice
– said the President in an interview with the portal Polityce.pl and the weekly magazine “Sieci”. When asked that he said he was considering two candidates to entrust with the mission of forming a government, he replied:
I said that two candidates were presented to me during consultations at the presidential palace. I made my choice for the reasons I have already given. I announced this during the election campaign. In the first step we talk about choosing the presidential candidate for the premiership. I am president, but Donald Tusk is not my candidate for prime minister.
The matter is obvious and is already confirmed by the decision to appoint Mateusz Morawiecki as Prime Minister. I recommend reading the interview with the president, because few politicians can talk about political opponents with such class.
What does this portend?
Why did Donald Tusk lose his guard and respond to the president before reading the interview? Apparently, the negative emotions he gave to his constituents no longer allow him to act cautiously and calmly. He expressed his dislike for Andrzej Duda many times. Bringing him before the State Tribunal is his obsession. During election rallies he even claimed that Rafał Trzaskowski was the president of Poland for him, and not Duda. Now he confirms that he will not be prime minister. What does this portend? A ruthless fight for power and the introduction of their own solutions through violence. This will have consequences not only for the people of the United Right, but also for the disobedient politicians of the current opposition. We already have an example after the first parliamentary session. There will also be a brutal attack on the president. And in all areas. We are already hearing about absurd ideas to dismiss the president through a referendum, which – horror of horrors – is even reported by a law professor affiliated with the Civic Platform! Will these actions intimidate anyone? I doubt it. But the level of political debate will be reduced to political batonism, which, in light of current threats and crises, is an obvious act at the expense of state security.
