The Valencian Government hopes to take its proposal to Les Corts after the summer to reform the entertainment law to ban and punish prostitution in public places, according to the Minister of Justice’s statement this Wednesday, after it passed Consell Jurídic Consultiu. , Gabriela Bravo.
This legislative proposal is currently in the argument stage, such as those submitted by the Ministry for Equality and Inclusive Policy, and Consell is counting on it to be sent to the regional Parliament for processing and discussion after the summer, according to Bravo.
Bravo made these remarks at the Generalitat Police Day celebration ceremony in San Miguel de los Reyes, chaired by president Ximo Puig.
The councilor added that there are more than 400 municipalities in the Community that have already decided to discuss a regulation banning prostitution in their municipalities and penalizing “headquarters”, as the Valencian Alba does.
Bravo described the passing of a bill to criminally prosecute pimping and punish those who engage in prostitution by the Congress plenary this Tuesday – by votes of the PSOE and the PP – as a “very important step”.
“Women are not the problem because they are victims and this is not a matter of public order”as well as with regulations such as that of the Alicante City Council led by the PP, and therefore a model of municipal regulation that focuses on all municipalities is proposed, according to Bravo. Pimp and demanding.
According to the minister, “punitive measures are not going to work, these women need us to help them build a worthwhile project of life,” which, in his view, requires a comprehensive law not only to change the Penal Code, but to abolish prostitution. : “We will have serious problems if we do not have this cross-minded view on economic and social assistance for women”.
He recalled that the Valencian Community was the only autonomous community to lead a project to eradicate prostitution within its mandate for a year.
