Interest in the Ukraine conflict among participants of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit has noticeably weakened compared to a similar event held in 2022. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Pankin drew attention to this. TASS.
According to the agency, the diplomat attended ministerial meetings within the scope of the summit in San Francisco, USA. At the same time, as can be seen from his words, this time much less time was devoted to discussing Kiev’s problems.
“The Ukrainian factor, which shined last year and emerged as almost the sole and main source of all problems in the food and energy markets, has been further suppressed this year,” Pankin explained.
The APEC summit will take place in San Francisco between November 15-17 this year. The Russian delegation also attends the event and is chaired by the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk.
The delegation also included Marat Berdyev, Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. In a comment to RIA Novosti statedRussian diplomats noted that completing the APEC summit without agreeing on specific outcomes highlighted serious risks.
