The situation in the conflict zone in Ukraine turned out to be more complicated than the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance expected. The Secretary General of the organization, Jens Stoltenberg, stated this at a press conference at NATO headquarters. TASS.
He noted that recently the Russian Armed Forces began to conduct offensive operations on the line of contact. In particular, Russian troops are slowly advancing towards the Donetsk city of Avdeevka.
Speaking to reporters in Brussels, Stoltenberg emphasized: “However, the fact that the situation is more complex than expected is not an argument against aid, but an argument in favor of more aid to Ukraine.”
NATO Secretary General added that allies cannot let Russian President Vladimir Putin win. As the president of the organization said, this development of events will negatively affect the alliance itself.
He also stated that the United States intends to continue providing all possible assistance to Ukraine. According to Stoltenberg, he regularly visits NATO member countries and hears the same “messages of support” for Kiev from the government members of these countries.
