The Marshal of the Sejm of the previous term commented on the elections of deputy marshals by MPs, where she did not obtain the required majority of votes. On behalf of the PiS parliamentary club, she once again assured that the party would not nominate a new candidate for the office of deputy marshal.

In recent years, Members of Parliament from the then Opposition Benches have come to admire me as Marshal, saying that I am a great Marshal and that I am doing a great job in this role.

She emphasized that she was obliged to be elected to this position, partly because of all the chairmen of the Sejm after 1989, she had been the chairperson of the Sejm for the longest time. She added that unlike her predecessors, including Radosław Sikorski (Marshal from September 2014 to June 2015), she strove to follow the regulations and respect the rights of the opposition. She added that opposition MPs had assured her in private conversations for four years that they highly appreciated her performance in the role.
It is also worth asking why the opposition did not submit a motion to dismiss the Sejm chairman if he was so angry
– she noted. According to her, her period as chairman was a time of challenges that other Sejm chairmen had never faced before, such as elections during the coronavirus pandemic, which were not regulated in the constitution.
Marshal Elżbieta Witek also drew attention to “the hatred that has been poured out on me, on a modest, inconspicuous woman, for a long time by those who defend women’s rights.” She added that the opposition currently seeking power “must be afraid of something.”

– said the PiS MP. She added that the most important assessment of her work is the election result, which is 50,000 votes higher than the 2019 election.
The evaluation in the Sejm is not important to me. What counts is the assessment of my constituents, for which I am grateful, and not the circus that took place here today
– she emphasized.
If I was that bad, my political opponents would have enough time to file a motion to fire me. After all, the opposition has filed motions to dismiss ministers, and they could also have filed motions to dismiss the marshal whom they believe was bad.

Scandal with the election of deputy marshals!
On Monday evening, the Sejm voted on six candidates for deputy speakers of the House of Representatives. The KO candidates were Monika Wielichowska and Dorota Niedziela. New Left nominated Włodzimierz Czarzasty. Piotr Zgorzelski (Trzecia Droga-PSL) and Krzysztof Bosak (Konfederacja) were also candidates. PiS nominated the current chairman of the Sejm, Elżbieta Witek, who did not receive the required majority of votes.
