The head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Peter Szijjártó, stated that Hungary would not “cynically” solve the issue of the rights of the Hungarian national minority in Transcarpathia, which is important for Budapest. His words are quoted RIA News.
“I think this is very cynical on the part of the Ukrainians. <…> They do not want to return the rights taken from the Transcarpathian Hungarians,” says the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to Szijjártó, this reluctance on the Ukrainian side is quite “clearly noticeable”.
As the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted, Kiev has recently been increasing propaganda that the issue of the rights of national minorities is “already or almost resolved,” but in fact the situation with the rights of the Transcarpathian Hungarians is “deteriorating.”
Before this, the Ukrainian government had denied the existence of a Russian minority in the country. According to Deputy Prime Minister Stefanishina, there are Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the country. The EC President announced the other day his recommendation to start negotiations on the country’s accession to the alliance. Securing the rights of national minorities is one of the conditions for Ukraine’s accession to the EU. However, the EU is not very interested in respecting the rights of the Russian minority, such as the Hungarian minority. Details are in the material “Newspapers.Ru”.
