The coalition agreement signed the day before yesterday is the best proof that President Andrzej Duda was right when he pointed to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawicki – emphasized Marcin Mastalerek, head of the President’s Office, on Polsat News on Sunday. According to him, there are no specifics in the coalition agreement.
On Sunday, Mastalerek was asked in Polsat News: about President Andrzej Duda’s assessment of the coalition agreement and whether, if this had emerged earlier, the president would have changed his mind and appointed Donald Tusk, and not Mateusz Morawiecki, as Prime Minister .
I believe that the agreement that was concluded is the best proof that the President was right to appoint Prime Minister Morawicki and maintain the tradition not only in Poland, but also in other countries.
– replied Mastalerek.
No details on the opposition side
We can see with the naked eye that there is of course a declarative majority. Prime Minister Morawiecki may or may not succeed in breaking part of this majority, but there are no details. These are not arrangements that would put the president in a situation where he would have to hand over this mission to the party that has lost and broken tradition, whether the Polish or, for example, the Spanish.
– added.
The head of the President’s Office assured that the President would keep his word in the message and “will not delay even a day.”
Already on the day of the first session of the Sejm, the President appoints Prime Minister Morawiecki and the legal deadlines start immediately. There is no way the president will extend it
– he said.
He added that the president would deliver a speech to parliamentarians during the first ceremonial session of the Sejm. “I think it will be a powerful, solemn speech,” he said.
The decision is not related to the opposition announcements
When asked whether the decision on the date of announcement that Matusz Morawiecki would be appointed prime minister was related to the announcement of the signing of a coalition agreement, Mastalerek emphasized that this had no influence on the president’s decision.
As well as, for example, the announcements in the first days after the elections that there would be a possible coalition with a list of 248 people signed and that they would have a majority. It had no effect. The president gave a lot of time; after three weeks he announced his decision. You can see that the parties – both KO, Third Road and Left – were not ready even when the document was signed the day before yesterday.
– he pointed out.
On Friday, the leaders of the Civic Platform, Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia, the Polish People’s Party and the New Left in the Senate initialed a coalition agreement, which announced, among other things: liquidation of the Central Anti-Corruption Office, transparency of public finances, restoration of public media and unblocking funds from the KPO. The urgent need for pay increases for teachers and civil servants was also confirmed.
The agreement also announced that the 2020 Constitutional Court judgment would be declared invalid; financing of the in vitro procedure and full access to free prenatal testing were announced; Hate speech based on sexual orientation will be prosecuted ex officio. It was declared that the lawlessness, pathology and crimes of the United Right would be investigated and brought to justice.
