All functions of the CBA will be taken over by the police, therefore we will continue to pursue corruption in a determined manner, Rafał Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw, told PAP.
On November 10, the leaders of PO, PSL, Polski 2050 and Links initialed the coalition agreement. Clause 19 of the first part of the agreement states that the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau will be liquidated and its resources and powers will be transferred to other departments, including: to the Anti-Corruption Crimes Department of the Police Central Criminal Investigation Bureau.
This will strengthen the fight against corruption, which was completely abandoned by the previous government
– we read in the contract.
Rafał Trzaskowski, who called for the liquidation of the CBA many times during the election campaign, was asked by PAP about the provision regarding the liquidation of the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.
All functions of the CBA will be taken over by the police, which is why we will continue to fight corruption in a determined manner. However, the CBA has become extremely politicized, which has unfortunately led to ridicule of this institution, and I regret that. Of course, the future government will do everything it can to fight corruption, but it should simply be left in the hands of professionals, in the hands of independent police officers, and not in the hands of people based solely on their political interests. sympathies.
– said the mayor of Warsaw.
Żaryn: A harmful postulate
Stanisław Żaryn, Deputy Minister of the Coordinator of Special Services, commented on the decision on Thursday.
This is of course a very damaging premise for the CBA, but especially for the Polish state. I have no doubt that the liquidation of an agency like the CBA will cause real damage to our country
– he said.
Significantly, while opposition politicians are backing away from previous campaign statements, their position remains unchanged in the event of the liquidation of the CBA. Are they that scared?
