On the night of 10 to 11 November, negotiators from the European Parliament and the EU Council agreed on a 2024 budget of 189.4 billion euros. “This budget is beneficial for Poland,” Andrzej Sadoś, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the European Union, said in comments for PAP.
The agreed draft budget for 2024 is beneficial for Poland, it provides financing for projects that are important to us under the cohesion policy and the common agricultural policy, we have also obtained financing through instruments supporting war refugees and sealing the border.
– said Sadoś, who led the Polish negotiating team.
Commitments from the EU budget for next year will amount to EUR 189.4 billion. Several months of work by our negotiating teams in Warsaw and Brussels have yielded tangible benefits
– added.
Financing project
The agreed project will provide financing for cohesion policy and the CAP, which is important for Poland. In addition, we managed to adopt a joint statement of the Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission, which is of crucial importance for Poland, stating that in the event of a significant acceleration of the implementation of projects due in 2024 are financed from the EU budget, the financial Changes will be made to ensure the reimbursement of all reimbursement claims, which will be sent to the European Commission.
What is also important is that more resources have been secured for the Erasmus programme, the Asylum and Migration Fund, the Border and Visa Management Instrument (both also related to support for refugee hosting countries and for the protection of the external borders of the EU), Military Mobility and the Connecting Europe Facility. The budget provides increased funding for humanitarian assistance to both Ukraine and the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, without reducing funding for humanitarian assistance to Kiev.
Next year’s budget does not include additional resources to support Ukraine. Funds for this purpose are included in the Ukrainian Fund, which is part of the draft revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027 and will be included in the EU budget for 2024, after final agreement on the form of the revision of the Multiannual Financial Framework frame. frame.
The compromise also provides more resources in the EU budget to combat anti-Semitism in the EU.
The agreement will be formally confirmed by the EU Council and the European Parliament within the next two weeks.
