Due to the impossibility of creating a parliamentary majority and obtaining appropriate support for his government in the Sejm, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki may resign from the mission to form a government – said Marek Sawicki (PSL), designated as Senior Marshal, Wednesday on TVN24.
Sawicki said that President Andrzej Duda will entrust the mission to create a new government to current Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on November 13 or 14.

Mateusz Morawiecki is given fourteen days to do this, but he does not have to use these fourteen days (…). Prime Minister Morawiecki can use this formula – knowing that he does not have a parliamentary majority – to inform the President on the same day he is appointed that, due to the impossibility of creating a parliamentary majority and obtaining appropriate support for his government in the Sejm, he’s resigning from this mission.
– noted Sawicki.
He explained that the chairman of the Sejm would then initiate the procedure in which the parliamentary majority would appoint a candidate for prime minister.
Everything points to it being Donald Tusk
– added.
According to Sawicki, Prime Minister Morawiecki will “very likely” use the above option.
Despite everything – I know the political path as well as the path of the financier, the banker and the prime minister – I believe that in all this there are still some vestiges of rationality. Since the Prime Minister knows that he does not have a parliamentary majority – and no one will doubt that he can count – given this knowledge and what is on the table today, it would be fairest if he were to act this way.
– he said.
““It’s just a suggestion”
Asked whether he was considering shortening the process of appointing a new government and convening a second session of the Sejm on November 20, Sawicki said this was not his prerogative.
This is just a suggestion that comes from my conversations with some lawyers and constitutionalists
– emphasized the PSL politician.
He noted that if Prime Minister Morawiecki resigns from forming a government the day after entrusting him with the mission, the Chairman of the Sejm will be able to convene a new meeting after seven days, that is, on November 21.
Then comes the second step in selecting a candidate for the premiership. If the President (Andrzej Duda) promises to appoint this candidate immediately, then – if Donald Tusk is willing to present the new government in two, three, five or seven days – he can of course make such a presentation to the Sejm and ask for a vote of confidence
– explained Sawicki.
According to him, Donald Tusk will be ready for this.
The formed majority coalition has been in negotiations for quite some time and Prime Minister Donald Tusk is already an experienced politician and certainly in my opinion he already has a cabinet ready, although we do not know that yet.
– said Sawicki.
He also admitted that “everything indicates” that Szymon Hołownia, the leader of Poland 2050, will become chairman of the Sejm.
