Karpiński will easily find like-minded people in the European Parliament, because the already released MEPs Eva Kaili and Marc Tarabella are in office there.
The career ‘from cell to Brussels’ is not just a precedent, but should become the rule. This is of course about Włodzimierz Karpiński, the Minister of Finance in the governments of Donald Tusk and Ewa Kopacz. Since February 27, 2023, Karpiński has been in prison because, after being detained by CBA agents and facing corruption charges, the court imposed a temporary arrest (later extended) on him.
Millions of bribes were involved in organizing a waste management tender in Warsaw, where Karpiński, an excellent specialist, found work and then began to earn real money, and not some small change from his official salary. Earn money through yourself, and not through the city hall of the capital, which should be understandable, because then you put more effort and effort into it.
When Karpiński got into trouble, he didn’t think he had made the deal of a lifetime in 2019, even though it seemed like a total failure. He then ran in the European Parliament elections (from sixth place on the European Coalition list in the Lublin district) and received a huge number of 3,501 votes, which was an extremely high percentage of the votes in the district: 0.47%. The best result on the list was achieved by Krzysztof Hetman of the Polish People’s Party – 105,908 votes, which was 14.31%. in a circle).
Joanna Mucha (70,341 votes, or 9.51 percent) and Riad Haidar (16,858 votes, or 2.28 percent) had better results than Karpiński, but did not win a seat. Only Hetman was the lucky one. Formally, you could say that the future waste specialist in Warsaw has failed miserably. Krzysztof Hetman took his seat in the European Parliament, and less than four years later Włodzimierz Karpiński was sitting in front of a cell. It turned out that luck favors the resourceful person, even if it requires a series of coincidences or the correct creation of such cases.
The fact is that Krzysztof Hetman participated in the Polish parliamentary elections on October 15, 2023 and received a mandate. This meant resignation from the Members of the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg. The vacant seat could have been taken by Joanna Mucha, who came second in the European elections in the constituency, but she also ran in the national parliamentary elections and won a seat she did not want to give up. Before Karpiński, there was Riad Haidar, but he died on May 25, 2023. Next in line was Włodzimierz Karpiński, who happened to be in a closet. And of course, he enthusiastically agreed to move from his cell to Brussels, understandably. He even sent a relevant letter to the chairman of the Sejm.
In the European Parliament, Karpiński will easily find like-minded people, because there are MEPs Eva Kaili and Marc Tarabella, who have already been released from prison (they were, of course, arrested for corruption). Together with Karpiński they could create a circle, or at least a circle (of interests – corruption). Karpiński himself, however, is a pimple. What’s more important is a precedent that can be turned into a rule or even developed creatively.
Anyone who took part in the trap and cannot be sure that it will not come out should do everything they can to be on the lists in the European Parliament elections in June 2024. No one knows yet that they were caught, so it should be easier for them to find a place on the right list, regardless of position. In favorable circumstances they can take over the mandate even if – like Karpiński – they lose decisively. Moreover, everything can be planned in such a way that famous people run just to win a seat, and then resign and give it to the next person in line, or simply to someone in need. And as we know, each round can be managed well, and then the cell’s promotion to Brussels will be simple and easy.
It may even be that going to prison will be profitable: the money or gold obtained through corruption can be bunkered somewhere, and after jumping from the cell to Brussels, they will be fine, especially since such people would be protected by immunity. so they didn’t even have to hide to spend the leftover money. And earn new left money, since even those caught red-handed in the European Parliament end up in prison for a short time – like Kaili or Tarabella.
Ciupy in Poland is an exceptionally friendly place for politicians from the political party Włodzimierz Karpiński comes from. As of October 15, there were approximately 75,000 people in prison. prisoners and came to the polls in even greater numbers than free Poles, i.e. the turnout was as high as 83%. The Civic Coalition won everywhere in the ten largest prisons. In Wronki, for example, it won 500 votes, while PiS received only 84. In Wrocław it was 503 against 91, in Czarne 548 against 85, in Kamińsk 497 against 53, in Włocławek 473 against 71 and in Potulice 577 against 94. A crushing advantage, because usually 5-7 times.
People who stay in a prison somehow feel a community of interests or a community of fate, or perhaps they just know that if the “Neumann Doctrine” protects against entering a prison, perhaps there is another doctrine, for example Karpiński’s, that makes it possible to get out of prison. And not just to freedom, but to a great place where you get great money and save for an equally great retirement. It may turn out that going to jail has never been a better deal, especially when it comes to corruption and people with the most European backgrounds.
