“Shame. We will witness the political transfer of the century. The media reports that Włodzimierz Karpiński plans to take up the mandate of a MEP. The Civic Coalition politician is currently in custody on suspicion of corruption activities and participation in so-called waste scandal in Warsaw,” Tobiasz Bocheński, Voivode of Mazovia, wrote on social media. This is just one of many outraged voices in this case.
On February 27, 2023, Karpiński was detained by CBA agents. He was accused of corruption and the court placed him under temporary arrest for three months.
Why can the former finance minister in the government of Donald Tusk and Ewa Kopacz be released? The PO politician participated in the 2019 elections, but did not win a mandate. Krzysztof Hetman was elected, but was given a mandate as a member of the Sejm. His place could have been taken by Joanna Mucha, but she also entered the Sejm. The next person waiting to become a Member of the European Parliament was Riad Haidar, but he died in May. In this way the mandate goes to Włodzimierz Karpiński.
Karpiński has already sent a letter to the chairman of the Sejm stating that he will take up the mandate.
An avalanche of reactions
This means that we will see an unprecedented transfer of a Platform player. (…) Mr. Karpiński became a media symbol – next to another KO politician in whose house money was found hidden in the walls – of the pathology of the Platform government. The fact that a person who was the first and most important official in Warsaw was arrested on suspicion of corruption shows the tragic situation of the capital’s headquarters under the rule of Rafał Trzaskowski. Thanks to the Civic Coalition’s electoral lists, we will see headlines in Europe: ‘From detention to the European Parliament. The Platform’s new MEP will deal with Polish affairs’
– Bocheński remembered.
It can be admitted that old political norms are returning faster than we could have expected. It is worth recalling the question: why does the Platform want to liquidate the CBA? Shame
– added.
I am confident that Mr Karpiński will get along well with Ms Kaili. They are united by common values and experiences. From the cell.
“From the cell to Brussels. Włodzimierz Karpiński, former finance minister and former minister of Warsaw, who is in custody and suspected of corruption, agreed to take up the mandate of a Member of the European Parliament. Are these the standards now? Better actually.
Karpiński will enter the European Parliament directly from custody and immediately, in recognition of this first sip on the road to restoring the rule of law, the KPO will be launched. And since he knows very well what taking money is, we can be sure of these EU funds.
the Bolshevik hood court ‘convicted’ Oskar Szafranowicz; Karpiński, who is in custody, becomes a Member of the European Parliament; Nazi released by Polish court; summoned for interrogation because of the Latin cry “Christ the King”. Too much for one day…
Włodzimierz Karpiński /PO/, who is in custody as a corruption suspect, agreed to take on the mandate of a Member of Parliament. This concerns the mandate that will be vacated by Krzysztof Hetman. Hetman won a seat in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland. Orwell and Bareja could not have imagined this.
Hello! If Włodzimierz Karpiński can take over the presidency of the European Parliament, Sławomir Nowak can become a minister and build tracks for a tram from Jagodno to the center of Wrocław. The United Left government promises to be turbulent.
From the cell to Brussels
The change of government hasn’t happened yet, and we already have a small demo (very small) of what Tusk’s government will look like… no, not Tusk’s rule, but the norms in a united Europe. W. Karpiński’s mandate, Oskar Szafarowicz’s case, where four MEPs’ immunity was revoked because they liked a tweet.
And check this box: the rule of law has been restored. You can revoke KPO.
