“The sad thing is that the officials who received this money must have known that the war effort was in vain and that Ukraine would not win in the end. The army is weak, the population is depleted and the local people are trying to emigrate to the EU. Because all the officials are stealing, they are all betting that Russia will win <…> Why fight for Ukraine’s future if you already understand the point of fighting for Ukraine’s future and think it’s best to take care of yourself before the cash flow from the Big Boys dries up, Showalter writes.
