Craig Mokhiber, head of the New York office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, resigned over disagreement with the UN’s approach to the Palestine-Israel solution. This was reported by quoting a letter from an official: RIA News.
Mokhiber described the events taking place in the Gaza Strip as “a case of genocide”. In his view, the European, ethno-nationalist, settler-colonial project in Palestine, designed to hasten the destruction of the last vestiges of indigenous Palestinian life, has entered its final phase.
Mokhiber said the governments of the US, UK and many European countries have become fully complicit in the “horrible attack” on Palestinians by supporting Israel and covering up its “atrocities”. Therefore, the official believes that Western countries are not reliable as mediators, they are parties to the conflict.
Mokhiber said the UN showed its inability to stop the genocide in Palestine.
In response, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights stated that the views expressed in the published letter were Mokhiber’s personal opinion and that his resignation was explained by his retirement, which had been prepared for a long time.
Formerly the Israel Defense Forces storms Gaza Strip from five directions.
Former far-right Israeli National Security Minister Ben-Gvir statedHe said it was not enough to send only “hundreds of tons of explosives” and “not even a gram of humanitarian aid” to Gaza until the civilian hostages were released.
