“I think it was too deep a mockery,” said left MP Anna Maria Żukowska on RMF FM, when asked about the sudden change of mind about Roman Giertych and the possible appointment of him as Attorney General. When it was pointed out to Żukowska questioning her credibility, she said that in her opinion Giertych should not be a member of the government.
Żukowska changes his mind about the coalition with Giertych?
Żukowska was asked about her statements about Roman Giertych – first the MP from the left stated that she would never be in a coalition with him, then she called not to vote for him, and finally she said that “Roman Giertych would be suitable for the position of Attorney General. If he wants to track down PiS and bring charges against them, this is a dream job.”
When asked if there was an issue on which she would not change her mind, just as she changed it “spectacularly” in the case of Roman Giertych, Żukowska said that Giertych “will not be in the ruling coalition.” In response to the fact that the MP questioned her credibility and that Giertych was already in one coalition with her, Żukowska said:
If he takes up the mandate, he will become a member of parliament. He won’t be in government, I think. I think these were words that were supposed to get him to the board somehow
– she said, referring to the words about the position of Attorney General of Giertych.
Giertych will not become attorney general. We will see what his ambitions are and whether he will appear in Poland at all
– she added.
When the interviewer, Robert Mazurek, continued to ask about Giertych’s position, Żukowska replied:
I said it in the interview. I think it was a mockery that was hidden too deeply.
Mazurek pointed out that this argument is now also used by Kołodziejczak, who reportedly also mocked when he could not answer the question of what the National Assembly is. Asked whether Giertych’s only authority is that “he will commute to PiS”, Żukowska said that “maybe so.”

Coalition agreement
The issue of the coalition agreement was also discussed in the conversation. According to Żukowska, an agreement between the parties that want to take power from PiS is a matter of “a week or two”, but probably not until the first session of the Sejm.
Certainly until December. I think we will agree on the distribution of the main ministries and the program statement, which will be completed later
– replied the MP.
When asked about coalition talks with the Civic Coalition and Third Way and the division of positions within a possible government, she said she was not authorized to reveal what agreements would be made.
When asked whether Szymon Hołownia would become president of the Sejm, she replied: “It could happen.”
Referring to speculation about the names in the new government, she assessed that the head of the left-wing club, Krzysztof Gawkowski, would make a good minister of digitalization.
This is indeed an area in which Krzysztof Gawkowski is strong and I think this is a ministry that suits him, he would find his place and he would be a competent person to deal with this area.
– said Żukowska.
She added that the left “has ambitions” to also engage in education, labor and social policy.
The ministry is now called family and social policy, but we prefer to return to the name ‘social policy’
– noted the left-wing MP.
She emphasized that the left is most interested in including in the coalition agreement the construction of low-cost apartments, increases for the budget sector, strengthening the National Labor Inspectorate and issues related to healthcare financing.
Żukowska indicated that the legalization of abortion will be included in the Protocol of Differences, which will form an annex to the coalition agreement.
We propose that the first priority should be the left’s so-called bailout law, i.e. decriminalizing the right to termination of pregnancy and assisted abortion, because at the moment friends, colleagues and partners can go to jail just for telling you that you an abortion with pills.
– said the left-wing MP.
She added that the left would not support the introduction of interest-free mortgage loans, which Donald Tusk announced during the campaign.
All they do is raise house prices. They do not increase accessibility at all for those who need their first “M”, only for those who have excess money and buy these apartments to rent them out later
– she said.
When asked about the candidate for the position of head of MEiN, she replied: “I think Agnieszka Dziemianowicz-Bąk will become Minister of Education.” In response to the comment that Donald Tusk may have a different opinion, she admitted: “He may have a different opinion and that is what the conversation is about. He has a different opinion and shares it in the course of the conversation.”
