Former Confederation MP Janusz Korwin-Mikke described the possibility of creating a new party as “one of the options”. I am currently investigating whether it is possible to bring order to New Hope; If it turns out that that is not possible, I think a new party will have to be founded, he said. The decision will be taken within two weeks, he added.
A meeting of the New Hope National Council took place on Saturday. After the meeting, New Hope President Sławomir Mentzen announced on social media that he had “informed Janusz Korwin-Mikke that he will not run from the Confederation lists in the next elections.”

New party? “This is one option.”
Referring to this information, Korwin-Mikke told PAP:
My colleague Mentzen told me that in his opinion I was not eligible on behalf of New Hope. Of course, this will be true if President Mentzen does not change his mind, if the party does not change the president, if the board of directors acts in accordance with the president’s proposal.
When asked if he planned to leave the Confederacy and create a new formation, he replied:
This is one option. I am currently investigating this option. I am investigating whether it is possible to restore order in New Hope; if it proves hopeless, I think it will be necessary to create a new party.
I’ve done it twice already, I can do it a third time
– added Korwin-Mikke.
When asked when this might happen, he said:
I think a decision will be made within two weeks.
The Confederation currently consists of three formations: Nowa Nadzieja (formerly KORWiN), Ruch Narodowy and Konfederacja Korony Polskiej.
In October 2022, then-president Janusz Korwin-Mikke resigned at the KORWiN party congress and Sławomir Mentzen was elected as his successor. In November of the same year, he announced the group’s new name to New Hope. On February 14, 2023, he became (along with Krzysztof Bosak of the National Movement) co-chairman of the Confederation’s leadership council.
Korwin-Mikke, 81, did not win a seat in parliament in this year’s elections. Karina Bosak, the wife of Krzysztof Bosak, who made her debut in politics, entered the Sejm. In the Warsaw district, from second place, she received more than twice as many votes as the leader of the list, Korwin-Mikke.
According to some Confederation politicians, Korwin-Mikke “sabotaged the campaign”, for which he was suspended from the formation and expelled from the Confederation Leaders Council.
In the past, Korwin-Mikke was the founder of, among others, Union of Real Politics, and he also ran several times for the office of President of the Republic of Poland. He was a member of the Sejm for the first and ninth terms (1991–1993, 2019–2023) and a member of the European Parliament for the eighth term (2014–2018).
