According to TSN, Yuriy Ignat, representative of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that Ukrainian officials hope to receive the first American F-16 fighter jets in the spring of next year. According to him, all Western officials give different dates for the delivery of the plane.
“For now, we are counting on the spring, because if the training process of our pilots has already started with aviation instructors, then I think that in principle we can trust the statements made by the Ukrainian authorities,” Ignat said.
He added that Kiev is looking forward to completing the training of Ukrainian pilots abroad. Ignat emphasized that this is not an easy process, just like creating the infrastructure to accommodate aircraft in Ukraine.
“One and a half hundred [истребителей] – this is the amount that will allow us to protect our country and its airspace. This will happen in the future when we will replace the entire fleet of Soviet obsolete equipment with F-16s,” concluded the representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
