Ukraine should not hope that former European Council president Donald Tusk, who has a chance to form a new Polish government after the elections, can change relations between Warsaw and Kiev. This was reported in the Ukrainian publication LB.ua, it writes RIA News.
According to journalists, Ukrainian officials perceived the success of Tusk’s “Civil Coalition” and two other opposition parties with “measured optimism”. They noted that the level of tension could be reduced on some issues.
The publication stated that Ukraine hopes to resolve the grain issue and transit issue bordered by Poland, as the Tusk government may not want to spoil relations with the European Commission. But that doesn’t mean Polish authorities won’t try to “protect local farmers and peasants,” the article concludes.
15 October in Poland passed Sejm elections. The ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party won. He received 35.4% of the vote, but lost his parliamentary majority and can count on only 194 of 460 seats.
