Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow viewed the decision to block Moldova’s Russian-language portals as a hostile step. His comment was published on: Web site departments.
“This openly hostile step towards Russia was another manifestation of the thoughtless anti-Russian attitude of official Chisinau,” he said.
He stated that this policy was intended to “eliminate any signs of dissent and disagreement with the authorities’ policies”.
He also described the incident as a gross violation of the Moldovan authorities’ freedom of expression and their citizens’ rights to access information in Russian.

The blacklist included the websites of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), Mir, NTV, Rossiya Segodnya, REN TV, Zvezda, Vesti, RTR-Planeta TV channels. The text of the statement states that an order was sent to the providers to block Moldovan users’ access to this media.
