Former Mossad officer explains why Hamas released hostages 11:31

Former Mossad official Yossi Alfer said Hamas was “gradually” releasing hostages in the hope of delaying the Israeli army’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip. He announced this on air Weather.

The former soldier called the speed of the hostages’ release “ridiculous” and noted that if the radical group hoped that such actions would improve its situation, it was mistaken.

“If we [Израиль] We want to wait two or three years, maybe take a hundred more hostages…we’ll have to find a better way, whether it’s a ground operation or better deals,” Alpher said.

He also rejected the idea that Hamas should be given any privilege in the release of hostages, recalling that the extremists had detained more than 200 people.

Previously The Times of Israel reportedIt is stated that the army fears that Israel’s ground operation in the Gaza Strip may be postponed or even stopped “halfway” due to the release of the hostages.

The publication writes that the military fears that further release of Hamas hostages could lead to the postponement or termination of the ground occupation by the decision of the political leadership.
