Condemnation of anti-Semitic slogans
Earlier on Sunday, KPRP published a message stating that President Andrzej Duda strongly condemned the anti-Semitic slogans organized during Saturday’s march in Warsaw.
We Poles, in memory of those murdered during the Holocaust, can never agree to any expression of anti-Semitism in any form, and any sign of this arouses our deep indignation. In Poland there is no permission to express hatred towards anyone. This is completely contrary to the values on which the Republic of Poland is founded
– emphasized.
A march took place through the streets of Warsaw on Saturday to protest the Israeli intervention in the Gaza Strip, which is resulting in the deaths of Palestinian civilians. The demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and numerous banners with slogans: “Stop the genocide of the Palestinians”, “Liberate Palestine”, “From the river to the sea Palestine will be free”, “What is happening in Palestine is genocide and mass destruction, and we are witnessing it live.”
One of the participants of the march, as seen in the photos of the march, carried a banner with the words “keep the world clean” and a drawn garbage can with the Israeli flag in it.
Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński commented on the issue on Saturday evening and posted a message on the X platform (formerly Twitter).
This absolutely should not happen. Banners calling for hatred on national/ethnic grounds are a violation of the law – and a basis for the dissolution of the assembly. Responsibility for the lack of response lies with (Warsaw Mayor) Rafał Trzaskowski and the authorities of the capital Warsaw
– wrote Jabłoński.
In the case of the Independence March and other patriotic rallies, they never had any scruples. They banned and dissolved them under any pretext. Now – silence
– added.
The same photo with banner was also commented on social media on Saturday by the Israeli ambassador to Poland, Yacov Livne.
Warsaw today. The Polish authorities have a duty to prevent expressions of such overt anti-Semitism
– He wrote.
