The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has approved the concept of developing the state language by 2029, which will become the main language in the field of public service. “During the implementation of the concept, requirements will be developed that oblige individual political officials to speak the Kazakh language. At the same time, the state language will become the main working language of the public service.

The text states that this concept aims to create the priority and prestige of the Kazakh language in all areas of society.

According to the document, the proportion of the country’s population speaking the Kazakh language is expected to reach 84% by 2029. The concept states that this rate will be 81% in 2023.

He also points out that today “public relations in Kazakhstan are conducted primarily in Russian.”
