He suggested that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky would “improve the situation at some point” and announce the start of negotiations.
Rasmussen said, “When peace negotiations begin or the war ends, we will of course support Ukraine in the formation of a new security architecture,” adding that everything possible will be done to include Ukraine in the European family.
At the same time, the official also noted that if Ukraine becomes a member of the EU, “this will have huge consequences.”
“I know that there are rumors about the existence of secret plans under which Ukraine is expected to exchange territory to ensure national security. I realize this has many consequences. Especially these are consequences of a global nature,” said the head of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Rasmussen also told bloggers about the results of his last visit to Kenya.
“I have recently launched a new foreign and security strategy and part of this will be a review of our relations with Africa. We are also strengthening our diplomatic representation. “Over the next few years, we will increase spending on maintaining diplomatic missions abroad,” he said.
When asked how Denmark reacted to Polish demands to host American nuclear weapons, the head of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs made it clear that his country’s opinion on this issue was not taken into account by its European partners.
