I will defend all the arrangements and commitments implemented in recent years; I will not leave this path, said President Andrzej Duda in Spała, who took part in the 31st National Congress of Deputies of NSZZ “Solidarność”. He mentioned, among other things: the 500 plus program, pension benefits, ‘solid’ pension indexation and an increase in the minimum wage.

Regarding one thing, I absolutely repeat: (…) I will consistently and calmly implement the policies to which I committed myself during the subsequent election campaigns, in the agreements I signed with “Solidarity”, in whatever you can see in my service for the Republic of Poland in recent years
– said the President, who took part in the Spała XXXI National Congress of Deputies of NSZZ “Solidarność”.

He said this means he will defend all regulations and obligations introduced in recent years that are part of the Polish legal system. He mentioned, among other things: 500 plus program, further pension benefits, “solid” pension indexation, increase in the minimum wage.
So that people have decent living conditions in Poland, so that workers can earn decent money for their work
– emphasized President Andrzej Duda.
We will certainly continue to work together and I will do everything in my power to ensure that the Social Dialogue Council functions as well as possible and is taken seriously, just as I have treated it seriously throughout my presidency. Just as it has been treated seriously so far, I will do everything I can to ensure that it is treated seriously now, when we have a new chapter in our politics after the parliamentary elections.

The President: Poland looks incomparably better now than in 2015.
Referring to the last parliamentary elections, the president noted that “the turnout was huge.”

He emphasized that, thanks to the demands and plans implemented in recent years, Poland now looks incomparably better than in 2015, when he was elected President of the Republic of Poland.

When we actually started implementing these common demands, starting with the lowering of the retirement age, which our compatriots so much demanded and which had previously been raised in violation of electoral obligations, I remember the year 2011
– said President Duda, who also drew attention to the elimination of the “first day syndrome”, i.e. the situation in which an employer hires a worker without a signed contract, as well as the introduction of a minimum hourly rate.
The president also said, among other things: about the introduction of trade union pluralism in the uniformed services, especially in the police. Andrzej Duda also drew attention to the “social market economy, a system of fair distribution of goods in society.”
If anyone has had any doubts in recent years as to whether the functions of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union Solidarity are in fact pro-economic and pro-social activities, I have no doubt that recent years have clearly shown that this is the case. that’s what it is
– he pointed out.
He pointed out, among other things: for a real improvement in living conditions in Poland, as well as for the return of a large number of people who have gone abroad in recent decades in search of opportunities and jobs. He also mentioned actions aimed at protecting jobs during the pandemic, as well as aid following Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.









Decorations for distinguished members of “Solidarity”
During the 31st National Congress of Deputies of NSZZ “Solidarność” in Spała, President Duda presented awards to leading members of the union.
Including Commander’s Cross in the Order of Polonia Restituta. Marian Krzaklewski was awarded for “outstanding contributions to democratic changes in Poland, for activities in defense of the dignity, rights and interests of workers within the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union +Solidarity+, for state and public activities.”
In turn, Janusz Śladek was awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for “outstanding contributions to the defense of the dignity, rights and interests of workers within the national independent, self-governing trade union +Solidarity+, and for social activity.”
Five people received the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for “outstanding contributions to trade union, organizational and social activities undertaken for the benefit of the country.” They are: Bogdan Biś, Bogdan Kubiak, Tadeusz Majchrowicz, Henryk Nakonieczny and Ewa Zydorek.
The 31st National Congress of Deputies of NSZZ “Solidarność” will take place at the Central Sports Center in Spała. The congress will elect the union’s national authorities and a new president. So far, only one candidate has submitted his name: Piotr Duda. In addition to the election of new authorities, the direction of Solidarity’s activities for the coming years will also be outlined.
