Last night my cell phone vibrated constantly.
My friends from Croatia wanted to know what the first exit polls were. Unfortunately, the Croatian media doesn’t have a single correspondent in Warsaw, so they had to rely on me.
I informed them about the development of the situation, happy that so many Croats wanted to know the results of the elections in Poland.
Giving them the data confirmed one thing I already knew: in my second home country, a large part of society is very interested in what is happening in Poland. To be precise, they are interested in what Law and Justice does and how it has changed Poland.
Disappointment in Croatia
That is why many of my friends were disappointed by the news that PiS had not won enough votes to govern on its own. Moreover, many of them feared that PiS would join the opposition.
If this happens, it will also strengthen our pro-Brussels government
– a Croatian MP from the conservative opposition told me.
Why am I writing all this?
I know that many PiS politicians often think that they act completely alone and that they do not have many allies and supporters in Europe. However, in my opinion, the situation is exactly the opposite.
Greater awareness
In recent years, public opinion, especially in Central Europe, has become increasingly aware of PiS activities. Moreover, they see it as a kind of hope for themselves. A party that cares about sovereignty, helps its citizens, does not want to play by the dictates of great powers and does not give up the concept of a nation state – this is what PiS is for many of us, countries that share a similar situation. lot, but are smaller.
As I write this, the final outcome of the election is still uncertain. Whatever he will be, one thing is certain: he will guarantee PiS’s continued struggle.
There are many people in Europe who view this struggle with hope.
