Russian President Vladimir Putin came to the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) held at the Ala-Archa state residence in Bishkek. This was reported by TASS.

The presidents of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are expected to attend the meeting. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan could not attend the meeting.

State residence “Ala-Archa” (“Motley Juniper”) is located in the village of Chon-Aryk, 41 km from Bishkek.

On the morning of October 13, Putin met with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, who came to Bishkek. According to the Russian leader’s assistant Yuri Ushakov, the leaders of the two countries discussed the development of bilateral relations in various fields and also touched on regional security issues, especially regarding the situation on Tajikistan’s border with Afghanistan.

In addition, Putin and Rakhmon raised issues related to the functioning of the 201st largest Russian military base in Tajikistan, which is considered one of the main factors of stability in the region.
