Extradition request to the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs
PK spokesman Łukasz Łapczyński said on Wednesday that the request had been submitted through diplomatic channels.
We received information that it had been handed over to the Director of the Foreigners Department of the Emirati Ministry of Foreign Affairs
– explained Łapczyński.
How long will the procedure take?
Sebastian M.’s lawyer, Bartosz Tiutiunik, emphasized that he did not know how long the extradition procedure would take.
According to the information I have and the arrangements that have been made, my client is represented locally by a local lawyer, which is obvious from the point of view of his legal interests. I represent him in Poland and am taking action in this area. These procedures are still ongoing
Tiutiunik said.
He also recalled submitting an application for a letter of safe conduct last week.
In a formal sense, this application is still valid and valid as long as my client stays abroad
– explained the patron.
He added that he did not know if the court had set a date for the hearing in the case.
Sebastian M. was arrested in Dubai last week. Polish officers from a special search group took part in his arrest. The man was wanted on an arrest warrant and an Interpol red warrant. He is suspected of causing a fatal accident on the A1 in Sierosław (Łódź Voivodeship). A family of three died in the accident and their car caught fire. The man was arrested at the airport. According to unofficial information, he used a German passport.
Tragic accident on the A1
Last Wednesday, the Minister of Justice announced that he had signed the request for the extradition of the wanted man.
I have just signed a request for the extradition to Poland from the United Arab Emirates of 32-year-old Sebastian M., a BMW driver suspected of causing a fatal accident on the A1 motorway.
– Zbigniew Ziobro wrote on Twitter.
The tragic accident on the A1 highway in Sierosław happened next on Saturday, September 16. Parents and their 5-year-old son died in a fire in a KIA car. Immediately after the accident, firefighters reported that “two passenger cars collided.” On September 18, Piotrkówka police issued a statement saying that “for unknown reasons the driver of the Kia hit the energy-absorbing barriers, after which the car caught fire.” There was no information that a BMW was also involved in the accident.
On September 24, another statement from Piotrków police wrote that “a Kia and a BMW were involved in the accident.”
The police have secured a number of leads and interviewed witnesses. We have also obtained some CCTV footage which we hope will help explain what caused this massive tragedy. The purpose of this investigation is also to clarify whether the behavior of the BMW driver had a direct influence on the occurrence of the incident in question.
An arrest warrant was issued for the BMW driver and the statue of Sebastian M. was revealed. The prosecutor’s office in Piotrków Trybunalski accused him of causing a fatal accident. The man was wanted on the basis of a red notice from Interpol. The head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, announced his detention in the United Arab Emirates last Wednesday.
