We have certainly raised the profile of culture. This is a very conscious decision of the leadership of our political camp, said Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Gliński on TVP Info on Sunday.
During the discussion, Minister Piotr Gliński pointed out that “the core of the changes that have occurred in Poland over the past eight years lies in the political will to implement these changes.”
You can program the future well or implement a political program well, but you also have to be effective and, above all, show political will, that is, actually change reality.
– he explained. He pointed out that “at its core there is a bold, courageous program linked to the vision of a sovereign Poland.”
Then you have to implement it. We have largely taken up this challenge
– added.
Important changes
The head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage noted, among other things: to the changes that have taken place in the cultural field.
The thing about culture is that it has always lost ground in terms of political priorities. We have certainly raised the profile of culture. This is a very conscious decision by the leadership of our political camp. As a result, the culture budget has increased by more than 100 percent, allowing us to complete many investments
– he said. He indicated that this involved eight thousand investments in culture, more than three hundred investments in museums, renovations and investments in art education, as well as PLN 30,000. so-called projects soft in culture and a multiple increase in expenditure on monuments.
All this translates into enormous social changes. The national community cannot be defenseless without historical policies and institutions that care for our heritage, because then it will simply cease to exist.
– Gliński emphasized.
He assessed that the upcoming elections will deal with “whether Poland will be able to pursue its sovereign interests or whether we will have to submit to Germany, as Donald Tusk did.”
Przemysław Czarnek, Minister of Education and Science, commented on the changes that have taken place in education.
Polish youth have been subjected to shame pedagogy for decades. She may have been subjected to this pedagogy because she had not learned contemporary history. In short, historical education ended with World War II and didn’t even include it. Except for a few percent of students who chose history at high school graduation, the rest had no idea what happened during World War II and what happened after the war. This allowed it to be manipulated with the pedagogy of shame – that we were just extortionists, that we were backwards, that our role in World War II was essentially non-existent.
– he said.
He noted that “there are MPs like the gentleman on the left who argue that we have no moral right to reparations.”
This could be said to those who had no idea what happened after World War II
– added. He explained that for this reason the topic of History and the Present was introduced, that is to say – as Czarnek noted – “we expanded the knowledge about society to include modern history.”
It is impossible to understand today’s reality without understanding or knowledge of the fundamental historical processes that led to today’s reality. As a result, this manipulation will be much smaller and sometimes eliminated
– he emphasized.
The head of MEiN said it is a “concept of community education and pedagogy of pride.”
We are truly proud of our ancestors, heroes and ordinary people who built this country. This pride was missing, hence the pedagogy of shame
– he said.
He emphasized that “either Law and Justice will win on October 15 and continue their rule, or PiS will lose and chaos will ensue in the country.”
Geopolitics and history
Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau recalled that “every policy – especially foreign policy – is embedded in two things, namely geopolitics and history.” He estimated that previously “a very important part of our history had been amputated.”
He explained that the genesis of the success of the current foreign policy of the ruling camp is based on certain assumptions.
Our foreign policy must serve Poland’s raison d’etre. This means that we must be a spokesperson and defender of sovereign Poland
– he said.
Our predecessors consciously and – unfortunately – deliberately relinquished this sovereignty – he said.
Germany and Russia decided that Poland simply could not afford an independence policy
– added.
We have taken on a completely different complexion and the consequences of such a policy are that today our relations with the United States – the greatest power in the world – are stronger and more comprehensive than ever. This also indicates our position in the region. We are the cornerstone of NATO’s eastern flank – its strongest element, which means we are the strongest element of NATO’s defense on the Russian front
– he explained.
Thanks to this, as evidenced by the Russian aggression against Ukraine, we can introduce a strong element of our leadership into the unity of the transatlantic community.
– he emphasized. As an example of such leadership, he gave the fact that “we have built a tank and aircraft coalition.”
What else have we done? Something that required sovereign thinking, which no other government had done before us, that is, we presented a note to Germany indicating the validity of compensation for damage caused by German aggression and occupation. Without the presumption that we are a sovereign entity in our part of Europe, all this would be absolutely impossible
– he said.
State of Poland’s attractiveness
He noted that “when we talk about Poland as an entity controlled by Germany and Russia, the problem is much broader, because the idea of German and Russian cooperation – not only economically, but also politically – is a vision in the area was from Lisbon to Vladivostok, practically controlled by Russia and Germany, with some participation of France, but without the presence of Americans,” the head of the Foreign Ministry recalled.
This was the absolute destination
– added.
He emphasized that “our subjectivity is radically opposed to this.”
The more determined and sovereign we are, the more attractive we are as a partner in this part of Europe for the United States, which in the long term means the American presence in Europe, and therefore the entire transatlantic future.
– he said.
