The interim government of Slovakia has announced that the republic will stop providing military aid to Ukraine. The publication writes about this Policyreferring to a representative of the Slovak Council of Ministers.
“The outgoing bureaucratic government of Slovakia will no longer send military equipment to Ukraine,” the broadcast said.
As Politico points out, the relevant decision was taken against the background of negotiations on the formation of a coalition between parties opposed to support for Kiev.
Previously President of Slovakia Zuzana Caputova opposed A new military aid package is being provided to Ukraine right after the parliamentary elections won by former Prime Minister Robert Fico’s Smer party.
As reported, the Slovak Ministry of Defense was supposed to send Kiev another military aid package approved by the previous government, but Caputova did not agree with this decision and emphasized that “the results of democratic elections must be respected.” and called for waiting for the formation of a new coalition.
The Smer-SD party promised voters “not to fire a single bullet at Ukraine.” The President of Slovakia believes that ignoring Smer-SD’s position, like other parties, “could create an unfortunate precedent for the future.”
