The Deputy Attorney General sent a letter to the Attorney General of Germany regarding reports on the so-called visa scandal in Poland – PAP discovered. “The scale of corruption has been greatly exaggerated. False reports were repeated by some media in Germany, and by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz,” Zbigniew Ziobro’s deputy wrote.
A powerful letter from Deputy Ziobro to the Attorney General of Germany
The Polish Press Agency has obtained the contents of the letter sent on Wednesday by Deputy Prosecutor General Krzysztof Urbaniak to Peter Frank, Federal Prosecutor General of the Federal Republic of Germany.
As a result of the recent public debate on illegal migration, both in Poland and Germany, and because of the false information appearing in the public space about the so-called visa scandal, which damages the image of the Republic of Poland and Polish-German relations, I decided to provide the Federal Prosecutor with information collected as part of the ongoing investigation to illustrate the current and, above all, factual state of the case in question
– District Attorney Urbaniak began his letter.
Intensive visa examination
He said the National Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an intensive investigation into corruption in the issuance of visas to migrants.
Seven people were accused of committing a crime, three of whom were temporarily arrested following a court decision. The actions of the Polish Public Prosecution Service and the CBA (…) made it possible to detect and put an end to the illegal practice described
– wrote Urbaniak.
He noted that the court released the main suspect from custody after four months, justifying this decision by his cooperation with law enforcement authorities.
It is especially worth highlighting that some Polish media reported information that was not reflected in the facts, stating that the investigation concerned the issuance of more than two hundred thousand visas, when in fact it concerned only 268 cases.
– we read in the letter from the prosecutor.
He said the survey results show that most of the people who received visas worked in Poland and did not go to Germany. He added that it is not true that the immigrants came from African countries.
Lies perpetuated by the German Chancellor
According to Urbaniak, the extent of reported corruption has been grossly exaggerated, presented in a completely false light, and media reports are not reflected in the evidence and are the result of sensationalism, even at the cost of deliberately misleading public opinion .
As a result of the above, unverified and false reports were subsequently repeated by part of the media in Germany, and by the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Olaf Scholz.
– said prosecutor Urbaniak.
He also informed the German prosecutor about the possibility of providing detailed information about this case.
This would avoid a situation where unverified information becomes the basis for the official position of the German authorities, and at the same time could serve to combat crime related to visa violations, which is in the interest of all countries of the European Union.
– wrote Zbigniew Ziobro’s deputy.
At the end of the letter, he stressed that Polish services “have a duty to respond to all manifestations of disinformation, especially if they assume enormous proportions, causing social unrest and hindering the effective fight against organized crime.”
