The Ukrainian government awarded a lifetime scholarship to Alexander, father of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, a professor at the State University of Economics and Technology in Krivoy Rog. The order was published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The scholarship was awarded for “outstanding service to higher education” in the country. Alexander Zelensky is a doctor of technical sciences and head of the department of computer science and applied software at the university.

As of September 1, 119 science and pedagogy workers were given lifetime scholarships in the country.

Ukrainian Government Scholarships for outstanding achievements in higher education were established by government decree in December 2020. This corresponds to three subsistence minimums and is paid monthly.

Formerly Minister of Education of Ukraine spoke for the complete abandonment of the Russian language in schools.
