According to TASS, the meeting lasted six hours, representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party, which prepared the proposal, and lawyers defending the interests of the head of state expressed their positions.
Previously, the ruling Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia party announced that impeachment proceedings would be initiated against Zurabishvili on September 1. He explained this decision as the president’s violation of the fundamental law of the state. According to Georgian Dream, this should be considered the beginning of another European tour by Zurabishvili without government permission. At the same time, the vote of not only the ruling party but also the opposition will be required for the impeachment to be implemented in parliament.
