Negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union (EU) should begin in the fall or early next year, said Jan Lipavsky, head of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agency provides information on this subject CTK.
According to Lipavsky, the meeting of the Council of the European Union Foreign Ministry in Kiev had not only symbolic, but practical importance. He emphasized that specific decisions were discussed there. The Minister noted that it was clearly stated that Ukraine’s membership in the European Union would guarantee security, since the European Union is a peaceful project.
Lipavsky emphasized that Ukraine should change its legislation and bring it into line with the European Union legislation.
On September 26, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that all recommendations for EU accession had been implemented. He also recalled that in June last year, Ukraine received candidate status for EU membership and a list of seven recommendations that must be implemented to move to the next stage of EU membership.
