NATO plans to increase the production of ammunition for Ukraine and other members of the organization, which have transferred a significant part of their own weapons to Kiev. European Pravda writes about this with reference to the US Permanent Representative to NATO Julianne Smith.
“So NATO started working on what we call a defense production action plan, which focused on the munitions shortage for both the Ukrainians and some of the NATO members that were assisting Ukraine, which led to its own munitions shortage,” Smith said.
He noted that the North Atlantic Alliance is working to strengthen ties with private manufacturers to speed up the production of military products.
Smith emphasized that NATO will continue to provide support to Ukraine and that the will of the organization is “firm and immortal.”
Formerly European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen expressed Confidence that the European Union (EU) will deliver the promised million ammunition to Ukraine by February 2024. He said Europe had built its industry and military-industrial base “very strongly” to achieve the goal.
“Yes, I’m sure of that. We are greatly expanding our industry and military-industrial base. A lot of attention is paid to this. We are doing everything we can…” said von der Leyen.
Admiral Rob Bauer, formerly chairman of the NATO military committee statedKiev’s requests for weapons, as well as the volume of defense products used in Ukraine, appear to exceed NATO’s capabilities.
Previously Germany admitted to supplying old equipment to Ukraine.
