“Poland restored controls on the border with Slovakia; We are also considering it at the border with other countries, including the border with Germany,” PiS spokesman Rafał Bochenek said on TVP1. He added that such a move is being considered at the government level and the issue is currently being analyzed.
Referring to the information about Germany’s announcement to restore partial controls on the border with Poland, the PiS spokesman noted that he did not know exactly what the German side’s motives were. At the same time, he added that such controls should also be restored at the border with the Czech Republic, which is most likely related to the migration route in the Balkans and the increasing migratory pressure on Europe.
Bochenek emphasized that the migration route in the Balkans has “changed somewhat.”
Until now, illegal migrants reached Austria via the Balkan route and went directly to Germany. Some time ago, Germany introduced border controls at the border with Austria, blocking this road
– he pointed out.
Balkan Route
According to the PiS spokesperson, more and more people may try to come from Slovakia to Germany and Poland. That is why Poland has also restored controls at the border with Slovakia.
We are also considering this at the border with other countries, because Poland’s security is the most important thing for us
– he emphasized.
Bochenek added that the Polish side is also monitoring the western border, and the government is considering restoring control there.
I know that this kind of analysis is going on due to the fact that Germany is very often the destination where illegal migrants go.
– he said. As he noted, Germany accepted nearly 100,000 last year. illegal migrants, and this year – almost 70 thousand.
Therefore, there are serious threats and risks that some of them may want to go to Poland, for example, to commit crimes, thefts or assaults. We want to guarantee the safety of Poles. This is a priority for us
– assured the PiS spokesperson.
He added that over 15 years, almost 300 controls have been registered in the official EU registers and reintroduced for various reasons. He notes that controls are also being restored in Poland, among others. in connection with the Youth Days. He assured that such checks are carried out randomly and mean no queues at the borders.
Visa problem
Referring to the SPD meeting in Nuremberg, where Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke about the Polish visa system in the context of the so-called migration scandal and called for an explanation for possible irregularities in the issuance of visas by Poland, Bochenek recalled that the case was only 268 visa applications were concerned, the majority of which were rejected.
This means that these people never entered Poland and did not receive a visa
– he said.
Chancellor Sholz is trying to divert attention from what is happening in Germany, because Germany today has a huge problem with illegal migration. There are also different types of elections taking place in Germany, where the far right – the AfD party – is gaining strength – it is a completely anti-migrant party. Today we can clearly see how Sholz’s polls are falling and AfD’s rising, so Sholz – somehow breaking into the AfD electorate – is trying to push a quasi-migrant narrative.
– he assessed.
On Tuesday, the portal “Deutschlandfunk” reported that Nancy Faeser, the Federal Minister of the Interior, allows the introduction of stationary border controls. She emphasized that she only sees it as an additional tool in the fight against illegal immigration, because random checks are more effective.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Monday that he had instructed the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration to check buses and cars at the Polish-Slovak border, which could be used by migrants who are not entitled to enter Poland .
