The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is on the verge of survival. This was stated by the Permanent Representative of Russia to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich. TASS.
“Let’s be honest, the situation in the OSCE causes serious concerns. “The organization is actually on the verge of survival,” the permanent representative said at an expanded meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council.
According to him, the harmful practice of freezing entire areas of activity established by the Polish presidency last year has already significantly undermined the ability of the OSCE to fulfill its mandatory tasks.
The diplomat also said that North Macedonia’s current presidency has not taken “any concrete steps to rectify this situation.” As Lukashevich pointed out, they have rejected broad consultations on complex issues and are proposing options suitable primarily to Western countries as solutions.
In particular, he pointed out that the Russian Federation did not accept Estonia’s candidacy for the 2024 OSCE Presidency, but North Macedonia did not initiate consultations on this issue.
