The Ministers of Agriculture of the Visegrad Group countries, consisting of Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, concluded in Znojmo in the Czech Republic that Ukraine’s withdrawal of its complaint to the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the grain embargo would improve the situation . atmosphere in mutual relationships. – When I asked whether Ukraine would withdraw the complaint, Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture Mykola Solski did not answer – said Polish Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ryszard Bartosik in an interview with PAP.
It was with great surprise and concern that we received the decision on Ukraine’s complaint against our country at the World Trade Organization, and we expect that Ukraine will withdraw from this decision.
– he said after the talks in Znojmo Ryszard Bartosik. He stressed that this would facilitate further talks, and Poland is interested in dialogue with Ukraine.
The reaction of the Ukrainian minister
Calls to withdraw applications also submitted by other partners of the Visegrad Group were heard via the Internet by the Minister of Agriculture of Ukraine Mykola Solski.
When I asked whether Ukraine would withdraw its complaint, there was no answer. The minister said that this is not a core issue, but it is crucial for us. Is very important. This creates a good atmosphere and prevents months of procedures
— Bartosik told PAP.
The Deputy Agriculture Minister also said that Ukraine stuck to its position of issuing its own permits.
We cannot agree to this at this time, because we believe that we should give permission for the intake of grain or not. We believe that this situation could lead to an uncontrolled flow of grain into our country
– he said.
Bartosik noted that the embargo is supported by the fact that “the volume of transit is increasing every day, every week, every month. It is therefore incomprehensible that the European Union has not expanded its regulations.” He added that the main conclusion of the meeting is that grain from Ukraine should go where it is needed and should not cause problems on the markets of neighboring countries and have a negative may have an effect on agriculture in these countries.
The host of the meeting, Czech Agriculture Minister Marek Vyborny, summarized the talks and said that the Visegrad Group partners have called on the European Commission to monitor the solidarity corridors through which Ukrainian grain is sent to third countries. They proposed introducing a deposit system for Ukrainian agricultural products transported across the territory of the European Union.
