I think that cultural security is the most important type of security, because if there is no spiritual strength of the members of the national community, no other security will replace it – said Piotr Gliński, Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
The head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage was a guest at the program “Niemowy niefinished” on Telewizja Trwam, dedicated to cultural security.
I think this is the most important safety. (…) If there is no spiritual power within us as members of the national community, if we do not build our own culture that gives us the motivation to create a safe community, a sensible community based on our value system, then no other security will be possible. will replace
– said Gliński.
An example is the attitude of Ukrainians
The minister cited as an example the war in Ukraine and the attitude of Ukrainians who defend themselves because they have a sense of identity and without that sense of identity they would probably not offer such resistance and would not give their lives.
In our history we also know centuries of struggle for independence, freedom, our values and faith. None of this would exist if we did not build our cultural security, because it can be built through education at school, but also through building the institutions that we deal with today – memory institutions, these are wise institutions regarding our heritage, which have a positive conversation with Poland, also a conversation about the meaning of life
– Gliński noted.
He added that if we support tradition, that is, if we support values that are important to us, we build the potential for cultural safety. He noted that it can be called our identity or patriotism, because it is a matter of emotions, and this gives strength, solidarity, respect for achievements, for different choices in history, which also brings development opportunities for the future.
“We have increased the budget for culture by almost 100%.
Gliński emphasized that the conscious decision of the PiS political leadership – party chairman Jarosław Kaczyński, Prime Minister Beata Szydło and later Prime Minister Mateusz Morawicki – was to value culture as much as it has been done for the past eight years.
We have increased the budget for culture by almost 100%. It was a conscious decision that we must achieve at least 1 percent in 2016. budget, which Mr. Donald Tusk had promised for many years, but they did not even reach 1 percent. budget. In a situation where our budget has grown enormously over the past eight years, i.e. an increase of more than PLN 200 billion, my budget (of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage – PAP) had to grow in parallel. We started with 3,250 billion PLN, and this year we have about 7 billion PLN, and next year we will have over 8 billion PLN for culture
– said the minister.
Gliński noted that these funds also finance art schools and universities.
This gives us, as heads of the ministry, the opportunity to pursue a policy of state patronage, i.e. a greater number of investments. Over the course of almost eight years, we’ve completed nearly 8,000 of them. investments, especially in the field of monuments
– he emphasized
The minister admitted that of the various renovations of monuments, most were carried out in churches, but – as he noted – at 70,000. monuments included in the register of monuments, 26 percent of which are luxury items related to religious worship.
Gliński pointed out that this is the most valuable luxury if we compare their value and quality.
This is the history of Poland, we are a Christian country, that is clear
– added.
The head of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage emphasized that during the PiS government, more than 300 museum investments of varying sizes, but overall significant, were completed, including many new museums. He mentioned two museums of cursed soldiers – in Ostrołęka and Warsaw, the Museum of John Paul II and Primate Wyszyński in the Temple of Divine Providence in Warsaw, but also the largest Museum of Polish History in Warsaw, which opens on Thursday.
Monuments are important for cultural safety because they remind us of history, but also improve our environment. They refer to memory, to the most difficult choices that our predecessors made and had to make. This builds us up for the future. Monuments are important as part of the economy, more beautiful cities attract tourists and influence economic development. That is why our party’s program contains the slogan of the reconstruction of Poland. There is still much to be done in this area
– emphasized the minister.
