President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel said that today he cannot imagine the return of the country’s ambassador to Russia, which was previously recommended by the government. In an interview with the portal lidovky.cz He emphasized that he did not discuss the issue with the country’s prime minister and foreign minister.
“I ask myself a very fundamental question: What will we achieve as the Czech Republic if we try to take back the post of ambassador to the Russian Federation? I see more negative aspects than positive ones,” Pavel said.
Currently, the Czech Embassy in Russia is headed by a Minister Counselor. Current Ambassador Vitezslav Pivonka has been in Prague since 2022 and has no plans to return to Russia.
Before that, political scientist Alexander Asafov statedHe said that diplomatic relations between Russia and the European Union will not be disrupted or suspended in the near future. Asafov noted that Russia’s diplomatic communication with most Western countries has already decreased. However, he reminded that the Russian side has productive and multilateral cooperation with global South and Asian countries.
