The idea that the government finances a place to show it in cinemas before the film “Green Border” by Agnieszka Holland and explains that this film is bad is an aberration – said Donald Tusk, head of PO, in Konin.
On Thursday, the Ministry of the Interior and Public Administration announced that the film “The Green Border” by Agnieszka Holland, which will be shown in cinemas in Poland from Friday, will be preceded by a specially prepared place in arthouse cinemas; it shows, among other things, the attack by migrants on the border crossing in Kuźnica and the construction of a barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border. The narrator says on the spot that “a hybrid operation targeting Poland began in 2021.”
On Friday in Konin, PO leader Donald Tusk was asked what he thought of the government’s actions surrounding the film Holland.
I’d love to bite my tongue, but I have to say they sound a little crazy
– said the platform leader.
We are facing a collapse of the energy sector, we have no European funds, we may soon fall out of the Schengen zone because we have the biggest visa scandal in the history of Europe, we have a war in Ukraine, we have three million refugees, and they are involved in film (…). A film that most of them haven’t seen yet. It means something is wrong in their mind
– said Tusk.
Can you imagine a normal government, in a normal country, in a situation like Poland is in today, playing such circuses from morning to night because of a movie? After all, they’re not reviewers, it’s not their job
– he said.
When I look at them, and this is not the first time, I generally see how their hands and trousers shake; they are so afraid of one director or one film that they go crazy. The idea that the government is funding the place to show it in theaters before the movie, to explain that this one is bad and this one… well, it’s really an aberration
– Tusk emphasized.
Their power should also be taken away because they really turned a decent state into, well, I won’t say what, because I have to behave decently here, but it really looks like something very serious and clinical.
– said the PO leader.
Social advertising before the broadcast of the film Holland
On Thursday, the head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, said on TVP Info why it was decided to buy social advertising in arthouse cinemas before the broadcast of this film.
We bought this place to bring viewers closer to the truth about these events
– added.
It shows the political context of these events, because we are not just talking about illegal immigration, but about the hybrid war that the regimes in Moscow and Minsk have unleashed on our country.
– he explained.
KamiÅ„ski said that the Netherlands’ “film creation” is in fact an expression of its political views.
Due to the fact that she is a well-known person – she is an authority for various political circles – it is no coincidence that today politicians, parliamentarians and MEPs from PO are very eager to publish another work by the director. This shows the real intentions of this political climate
– added.
