Minister Zbigniew Rau appeared in the program “Guest News” on TVP. The Foreign Minister responded to the opposition’s allegations about the so-called visa scandal. He also commented on the issue of the invasion of illegal immigrants on Lampedusa.
The head of the Foreign Ministry recalled that Poland had criticized Angela Merkel’s migration policy from the very beginning.
This is a problem that is global. The eyes of the world are on Europe. (…) What is happening now is the culmination of the European Union’s migration crisis. This is because no one in the decision-making centers of the EU, neither in Berlin nor in Brussels, has listened to our position. We have pointed out that uncontrolled migration, this open-door policy promoted by Chancellor Merkel, must have consequences. And today we witness it. But just when this crisis arose, there is no solution for it in the EU formula. We have always emphasized that we must start by protecting the borders of the European Union. This is exactly what we are doing with our border with Belarus. We were reminded not so long ago that this should not have happened, and our opposition claims almost to this day that it has fundamental, fundamental reservations about this most defensive of actions by the Polish state. Our position was and is clear. We can tackle migration issues in the European Union together under two conditions. The state decides who it wants to admit and under what conditions
– he said.
‘The lie of the opposition’
Minister Zbigniew Rau comments on the allegations regarding the so-called visa scandal, he spoke about the lies of the opposition.
This is a deliberate and deliberate lie by the opposition, which consists of a whole cascade of fake news that it has used in recent days. The most important fake news is the so-called scandal of the century, which is said to occur in the ministry that I have the honor of leading. Of course there is no visa scandal. However, there is a cascade of untruths, slander and blatant lies
– he said.
He then gave exact figures on the number of visas issued by Poland.
When we hear about this scandal, we must remember something absolutely fundamental. Irregularities have been identified in the issuance of just over 200 visas in the past 30 months. This practice was recognized by the Polish services and by the CBA, which has been working on this issue for more than a year, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office. (…) During this period we have issued almost 2 million visas. 1.5 million for 30 months to Belarusians and Ukrainians. If we now compare these figures, 200 out of 2 million is one-tenth per mille. This is the extent of what the opposition calls the visa scandal. 200 versus 2 million. The Polish state took up the challenge, followed the development of this practice and this practice reached its end, meaning that seven people were charged. Three of them were deprived of their liberty. One official was fired, although no charges were brought against him. Deputy Minister Piotr Wawrzyk was removed from his position because he was politically responsible for it
– said Minister Rau.
He also argued that neighboring countries are making their own demands on representatives of the Polish opposition.
We are proud of the fact that, by applying the reverse of the Neumann Doctrine, we demand the most from ourselves, a lot from our employees, and there is nothing to demand from the opposition. Neighboring countries demand of them. Those whose interest it is to open the Polish borders so that this migratory pressure finds its place in Poland, because we are free from this pressure. Thanks to our determined policy in the east, on the border with Belarus, and our categorical refusal to move to our territory
– he said.
