Adam Michnik and his deputy Bartosz Wieliński decided to humbly justify themselves to the Germans in “Welt am Sonntag”, complaining about the evil PiS, which – as they accuse – is reaching for the “anti-German card”. I think of the words ‘indictment’ and ‘tribute’, but surely the editors of ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’ wouldn’t be so submissive?
Michnik and Wieliński: “PiS grabs the anti-German card”
The campaign for October’s parliamentary elections has been going on in Poland for months. The ruling PiS party sees that loss of power is a real possibility. Finding himself in a desperate situation, he turns to the anti-German card and plays it more and more often and more brutally
– write Michnik and Wieliński in “Welt am Sonntag”, doing what they like most – that is: intimidating the ruling PiS.
The state-run propaganda apparatus reports almost every day in prime time about the evil Germans attacking Poland.
– we are reading.
The alleged reason given by both gentlemen is truly fanciful, taken straight from the cheapest opposition story. Well, PiS should attack Germany because… “Kaczyński hates Tusk and is afraid of him.” This story could not be missed by Tusk’s grandfather from the Wehrmacht, who PiS allegedly damaged the PO leader in 2005.
And since there are never enough accusations, Michnik and Wieliński describe to Germans how “PiS politicians act as if the Nazis still rule Germany” and “the slander of Germany continues.” They also find it difficult to call Tusk a “traitor”.
Kaczyński’s concerns are justified. If there is a change of power, PiS politicians will be prosecuted by the legal system
– they claim with visible hope of total resistance.
“Are Germany’s elites finally getting it?
Because they threatened and condemned PiS, the gentlemen of “GW” had to say a few words to the Germans. According to Michnik and Wieliński, after Moscow’s aggression, Germany threw off its ‘ideological corset’ and announced a ‘breakthrough’, although actions (arms deliveries) had to wait.
The opinion that Russia is a threat in this world that we must defend ourselves against is no longer a taboo in the area between the Rhine and the Oder. German elites finally understood that their country had to take greater responsibility for European security
– I write to the heads of the editorial staff of “GW”. However, to their credit, they reminded Berlin of Nord Stream and the voices that Russia should not be provoked.
The guilt for the war and the fear of the outbreak of a new war created a mixture that paralyzed German defense policy.
– they added, apparently not to offend the ‘pacifist’ circles in Germany.
In his cool, down-to-earth style, Scholz broke with the shameful, long-standing legacy. The breakthrough means that old ties with the Kremlin will not return, especially as the European Union is doing well without Russian gas, oil and coal
– they debate with an exceptionally optimistic attitude.
These Germans are poor and are therefore being wronged by PiS. Fortunately, they have Adam Michnik (and his “Gazeta Wyborcza”) on the Vistula River, who will soon cheer them up. Is it not?
