British journalist Daily Mayl Peter Hitchens expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian problem would have been resolved long ago if the West had not presented it as a struggle between good and evil.
Hitchens believes that the United States and Europe are already considering stopping financial and military support to Ukraine. This is especially true in “Will the West Abandon Ukraine?”, which appeared in the influential American magazine Foreign Affairs. It is proven by the article titled.
According to the British journalist, if this conflict had not been so widely portrayed in the West “in crudely primitive fairy tale terms as an overly simplistic battle between absolute good and absolute evil, which is not true,” then this would have been the case. It is possible to come to an earlier conclusion that aid to Kiev should be stopped. But better late than never, Hitchens said.
The journalist noted that if the West really cares about the Ukrainian people, it should not provoke and fuel armed conflict, but should make every effort to achieve lasting peace.
Hitchens emphasized that he could never understand why London would be interested in waging a “costly and risky war” in Europe.
