We are aware of the announcements of unilateral measures by some EU countries. We need to analyze them so we can’t comment on them at this stage. European Commission spokeswoman Miriam Garcia Ferrer told PAP when asked about Poland’s ban on importing Ukrainian grain.
““Ukraine will introduce effective control measures from September 16.”
We have come to the conclusion that the preventive measures introduced on May 2 are temporarily no longer necessary. The work of the coordination platform has made it possible to significantly expand trade along solidarity routes, increase its capacity and solve specific problems. This provided liquidity and even increased exports (of Ukrainian grain – PAP) to third countries outside the EU
– said the EC spokeswoman.
She added that Ukraine agreed to introduce legal measures, including an export licensing system, within 30 days to prevent sudden increases in grain prices.
Until then, Ukraine will introduce effective measures to control exports of four groups of goods (wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds) from September 16 to prevent market disruptions in neighboring Member States
– Garcia Ferrer noted.
“We have to analyze them.”
We are aware of the announcements by some Member States of unilateral measures. We need to analyze them so we can’t comment on them at this stage. Now we are focusing on the implementation and launch of the just announced new system. We can further collaborate with all parties during the coordination platform meeting next Monday. The Commission and Ukraine will continue to monitor the situation closely
– summarized the EC spokeswoman.
Ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to Poland
As of midnight on September 16, the Polish government has imposed a ban on the import of Ukrainian grain into Poland.
As I said a few days ago: either the European Commission will extend the import ban, extend the embargo, or we will introduce an embargo ourselves for the coming months, for the next quarters, until we develop a model of cooperation with our eastern Ukrainian neighbor
– said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
Previously, the EC did not extend the EU embargo on Ukrainian grain to five EU member states, including Poland.
