We are working to ensure that Ukrainian grain ends up where it is needed in the EU and the rest of the world, Janusz Wojciechowski, EU Commissioner for Agriculture, argued at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
We have committed significant resources and support to ensure that Ukraine’s grain exports can be delivered where they are needed. We offer support to farmers from the European Union. Temporary measures were implemented that allowed the stabilization of markets in neighboring countries (Ukraine). This did not limit the export of Ukrainian grain through the solidarity corridors
– said Wojciechowski during the debate on the extension of the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain.
There are indications that, with good will and effort, we have logistical capabilities that will allow us to export this year’s harvest from Ukraine. To avoid bottlenecks, it is essential that we provide the necessary means to transport Ukrainian grain through neighboring countries.
– he postulated.
Janusz Wojciechowski also announced that this issue will be discussed on Wednesday during the meeting of the coordination group, which includes representatives of five EU countries (Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria), the European Commission and Ukraine.
