The United States does not believe that the G20 countries softened their stance towards Ukraine in the final declaration of the summit in India. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated this in an interview with the newspaper. Finance Times.

“The United States does not see this language in any way as a language that would weaken the G20’s position on Ukraine… Frankly, it has been difficult to find language that would satisfy the United States and other countries…” he said.

The joint statement of G20 countries on the conflict in Ukraine was “essentially very strong,” according to the head of the US Treasury.

The FT notes that the declaration was criticized by Western countries for not containing some of the Russian Federation’s “most aggressive condemnations” of events in Ukraine compared to the last G20 summit in Bali.

Previously Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declarationIt appeared that the West had failed to “Ukrainise” the G20 summit agenda.

Putin before stated“The frog is on our side.”
